Shipping scheme

BUPA International Company Maritime scheme is an annual group private medical insurance scheme and is governed by an agreement between your sponsor and BUPA International.

The terms and conditions of your membership have, therefore, been agreed between your sponsor and BUPA International and there is no legal contract between you and BUPA International covering your membership of the scheme.

BUPA International Company schemes and underwritten by BUPA Insurance Limited.

Only the sponsor and BUPA International have legal rights under the agreement relating to your cover under this scheme.

This means only the sponsor and BUPA International may enforce the agreement (including renewal and cancellation of your policy), although BUPA International will allow anyone covered under the scheme complete access to our complaints procedure. The full name of BUPA International is shown on your membership certificate.

This table of benefits is only a summary of your policy and its benefits and is part of your general terms and conditions of membership together with:

* the BUPA International Company scheme membership guide

* your application form and

* your membership certificate

Together they set out the details of your cover, subject to any variations to the terms and conditions agreed between BUPA International and the sponsor.

Your sponsor is responsible for informing you of any variations to the table of benefits or any of the other general terms and conditions of membership. There are general exclusions that apply to your cover. These are set out in full in the BUPA International Company scheme membership guide. A summary of the main exclusions is set out under What is not covered?

Your membership certificate shows any conditions, treatment or charges for which cover is restricted or excluded (if any) that are personal to you.

To be covered under the scheme your cover must be confirmed by the sponsor.

When your cover starts

Your membership starts on the 'effective date' shown on the first membership certificate we sent you for your current continuous period of BUPA International membership under the agreement.

Making a claim

We will pay for treatment under the terms and conditions and table of benefits of the scheme that apply to you on the date you receive the treatment, subject to any variations agreed between BUPA International and your sponsor under the agreement.

We will only pay for treatment costs and expenses actually incurred by you while you are covered under the scheme provided that:

* your sponsor has paid us all the subscriptions due under the agreement, and

* you are not breaking any terms and conditions of your membership
